(Zusammen # zn9, 10" - black vinyl - 6 tracks - lim. to 100 hand-numbered copies)

Number 9 in the Zusamen series marks the return of A// (who is now /I\) to his beginnings: if it is just as minimal and thematically enigmatic as the other Zusammen, in style "The Flame Of The Sacred Wyvr" is 100% the Invasion Planete sound. First full-length LP by AD ABSURDUM, aka the Giorgio Moroder of Black Minimal Chiptunes, aka the Grand Master of Viking Synthie Pop. Locked up in his cellar with his faithful Amiga 500, our lonesome bard has spent two years brewing up the most improbable brand of weird but cheerful minimal elektro with a definite all-over BM feeling... Add to this cocktail a couple of  COILesque ambient tunes and a medieval rhythmic-noise anthem, and you’ll get a whole new experience in electronic music, discarding all genre boundaries like once Njurmännen, but with guaranteed dance-floor efficiency... ALONE - AN UNREAD NOTE
(Echoplay # echo001, 7" - black vinyl - 2 tracks)

Echoplay is NLW's brand new 7"-sublabel, entirely dedicated to the music the 80s called "New Wave". The first release is by none other than ALONE, the long-standing Serbian act who released their first vinyl record on Treue um Treue a couple of years ago (see below). Presented here are two songs extracted from ALONE's latest album ("Spomenik Neznanom Umetniku", which was only released as a very limited CDR). Two masterpieces of synth-pop, highly reminiscent of OMD, B-movie, Images In Vogue and Secession. mp3

ALONE - FOSSILIZED IN CONCRETE 1995-2006
(Treue um Treue # T.U.R. 012, LP - crystal clear vinyl - with cartoon-insert - 9 tracks - lim. ed. of 318, hand-numbered)

ALONE from Belgrade have been active both as a performing and recording project since 1994. Their style is a unique brand of high-tech electro-wave, allying the pathos and weirdness of KIRCHOHMFELD, the complexity and killing beat-programming of LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS and the unpredictability of PIERRE NORMAL. This is their first ever vinyl release, a selection of tracks spanning a period of almost 12 years. Definitely pop but never easy, futurist and neo-romantic at times, ALONE’s music remains through the years as unfamiliar and utterly compelling as the post-apocalyptic landscapes it tells us about. Like a voice from the outer world, ALONE takes us to the nexus in time and space where each may find their Golden Path. mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

AME DE BOUE - L'INCONFORT NÉCESSAIRE
(Treue um Treue # T.U.R. 021, LP - black vinyl - 15 tracks - lim. ed. of 255 hand-numbered copies)

Debut album by AME DE BOUE, the solo project of Dasz, one of the two men-behind-the-machines in the Franco-Belgian outfit DOLINA. If the family resemblance cannot be denied – especially in the nag for sweeping, synth-driven cold-wave anthems – AME DE BOUE’s music is also more personal and intimate, with a raw edge and an urgency which command the listener’s emotional involvement on each track, from the dance-floor orientated electro songs to the eerie Third Wave ballads and the more introspective, angst-laden waltzes. A distant sense of threat and a definite claustrophobic mood pervade the album, relieved here and there by touches of black humour, echoes of 80s New Wave and electro-punk surges. Welcome to the Saturday night’s ball on the isolation ward! mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp

BEOGRAD - THE FUTURE IS NOW IN YOUR HANDS
(Anna Logue Records # anna036, 7inch - black vinyl, in printed sleeve - 1 insert - 4 tracks)

BEOGRAD was an electronic pop outfit founded in Belgrade, Serbia, in the former Yugoslavia. In 1982 they released their one and only 7" single, the classic and highly sought-after minimal electro smasher 'T.V'/'Sanjas li u boji?', with its wonderful Roland CR-78 drum machine, manually played bass synth and high note sequences, lovely harmonies and Serbian vocals. Then, in 1983, their only LP 'Remek depo' was released. Anna Logue Records has now put together a nice 7"EP including both the original 7" tracks plus the superior track from the album, 'Mrak', as well as two very rough and pretty horrible sounding short instrumental demo recordings of 'T.V.' and 'Mrak', included here for the sakes of obscurity, rareness and fun. listen

TOBIAS BERNSTRUP - 1984
(Enfant Terrible / ET002, 12" EP - black vinyl - 4 tracks - lim. to 517)

This excellent EP by Swedish visual & performance artist TOBIAS BERNSTRUP comes as a very pleasant surprise on Enfant Terrible, being a much poppier output than we are used to on the Dutch label. Bernstrup's music, between Italo Disco and Space Synth, has been rightly compared to a mix of KLAUS NOMI and PET SHOP BOYS (the track "1984" particularly seems an obvious tip of the hat to "Paninaro"), and other references such as KOTO, GAZEBO and LASERDANCE immediately spring to mind. Four neo-romantic variations on the Orwellian theme, beautifully illustrated by a painting from Bernstrup himself, will immediately make you stand on your feet and shamelessly dance the winter away... Enjoy! mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

BUZZ - SEE YOU SIOUX
(Dark Entries / DE-022, LP - black vinyl - 1 insert - 7 tracks)

Hailing from Lille, northern France, BUZZ released one single album in 1985, the highly limited demo cassette See You Sioux (the success of which later led to 4 EPs on Danceteria Records from 1986-1989). Combining new wave dancefloor appeal with the abrasive textures and irreverent attitude of post-punk, addressing topics such as the Cold War, post-World War II tension in Berlin, the assassination of Kennedy or Pablo Picasso’s minimalism – all in a manner that was as sarcastic as it was politically-charged - BUZZ fit nicely beside their French contemporaries: Opera Multi Steel, Norma Loy, Little Nemo, Taxi Girl, but is more aligned with their Belgian neighbours the Neon Judgement and Trisomie 21. All songs have been remastered from the original C-60 metal master tape and the LP includes a fold-out, double-sided insert with photos, lyrics and liner notes by Anne Clark. 27 years later these demos provide a glimpse of the bleak post-industrial European wasteland as seen from the bedroom window during the French coldwave scene. mp3 mp3 mp3

Formed in 1986 in Moscow, the band only released one tape album before splitting. This record is in a way representative of their unique "techno-romantic" style and vision. One track is taken from the album, the other is an archive track exclusive to this release. Refreshing and immediately endearing synth-pop gems which will soon find their way to your heart. Here comes the outstanding debut of a relatively new project from the US west coast scene. Bronze includes members of Spector Protector and The Vanishing, who performed at the Hex nights and also appeared on the Hex sampler LP. The music of Bronze is difficult to categorize: if the sounds are between post-punk and twisted minimal synth, the mood is totally 70s. The two tracks presented here are highly psychedelic, totally bewitching pieces whose mesmerizing glamour grows with each listening... and the acid haze lingers long after the little record stopped spinning! For us one of the best and most original output on ET! mp3 mp3

CENTRAL UNIT - LOVE MACHINERY
(Mannequin Records / mnq024. 12" EP - transparent vinyl - 4 tracks - lim. to 300 copies)

Mannequin presents the 30th Anniversary Edition of the 12’’ EP ‘Loving Machinery” from Central Unit, the cult New Wave band based in Bologna (nowdays reformed with a different lineup). Formed in 1981, they were among the first in Italy to manipulate synths, drum machines and other electronic devices to create atmospheric soundscapes and they were considered the Italian answer to Tuxedomoon. In March 1982, they published the 12’’ EP “Loving Machinery”, which first entered Belgian and German charts with the single "Saturday Nite", thanks to its skeletal electronic beats and minimal synth atmospheres, combined with mechanical basslines and relentless bass guitar meanderings, with slothy saxophone murmurs peeping out here and there. Central Unit joined some important live shows in Italian and foreign festival and they released an album for major label CGD, produced by Tuxedomoon bassist Peter Principle in 1983. Cover art by the renowned cartoon artist Giorgio Carpinteri. mp3 mp3

CHROMAGAIN - ANY COLOUR WE LIKED
(Anna Logue / Mannequin # Anna28/MQ10 - LP - black heavy vinyl - with printed inner-discosleeve + A2 poster + hand-numbered postcard - 8 tracks)

CHROMAGAIN from Torino started in 1982 as a post-punk outfit, then evolving to one of the top-notch Italian electronic dark wave bands. The influence of Joy Division/New Order is inevitable, the playful and melodic bass and lots of synthesisers form the backbone to their songs. In 1985 they released their only vinyl mini-LP “Any Colour You Like” which has been a highly sought-after and expensive rarity ever since. Here is “Any Colour We Liked”, a retrospective compilation including the complete and remastered mini-LP, plus “Wake Up” (a different version to the one released on the “Danza Meccanica” compilation), “Ethnicbox” from the 1984 “Tracce” LP compilation, plus a previously unreleased Dub Instrumental version of “Season of Steel” . CONTROL UNIT - THE FUGITIVES
(Backwards, # BW02, black vinyl, 4 tracks, hand-made silk-screened sleeve, ltd. 300)

For "The Fugitives", Control Unit's second work, the mighty guitarist Ninni Morgia (highly acclaimed in the New York underground for his experimentations in the wide world of free-jazz and avant-garde psychedelia) and his companion Silvia Kastel have turned themselves into a real industrial combo. "The Fugitives" sounds like a perfect "car-crash" between the two main industrial music currents: the American one (Factrix above all) and the European one (think of course TG and Cabaret Voltaire). Though recorded more than 30 years later, the brand new Control Unit torture your ears just like a great industrial music album from 1978, with four intense episodes of pure madness sound, obscure and sensual at the same time, thanks to Morgia's devastating technique and delirious strings, and Kastel's hypnotic groans, biting screams and caustic, powerful synthetic "raids", just as Julian Cope wrote about her: "she squeals, cooes, howls, snarls, grunts and yelps through all manner of intriguing analogue-ishness".

DILEMMA never made it to an album release and eventually stopped in 1991. Most tracks on the LP presented here are taken from their cassettes “Dismember your Body” (1988) and “Pure Epitaxial Dilemma” (1987), while the three tracks of the 7" were taken from a 1988 live performance. Cold, minimal and effective EBM influenced electro, reminiscent of Portion Conrol, à;Grumh and Neon Judgement.

Created in the early 80s by Philippe Doray (RUTH) and Thierry Müller (ILITCH, RUTH) as a live project, CRASH (inspired by JG Ballard) gave several concerts in France and the Netherlands. The two songs presented here, both from 1984, both previously unreleased and taken from rehearsals, are very different stylistically: while "Vaughan's ballad" is an instrumental guitar-synth wave anthem (Cure meets Jacno, both on LSD), "Pile ou Face" is a very French, higly addictive, rather dark and spacey hypnotic pop ballad which will burn itself in your brain from the first hearing on.... DR. C. STEIN - LIÈGE IN THE SPRING

Second chapter of Treue um Treue’s collaboration with synthesizer magician Dr C. They call their style "acid folk", which is all about putting the good old TB-303 into a folktronica concept. The idea works wonders on this charming little record: side A is an ambient soundscape based on accoustic guitar loops pursued by a powerful bass-line, making the whole track pulsate without any beat at all, and side B is a splendid bossa nova track, simple, melodic, analogue and groovy. FRANCE - GRAND TOUR

With Telex and Kraftwerk as ultimate references... Well, there will always be people who can’t take a joke. People like Henning Specht (Fiendish Fib, Hypnolove), François Remigi (Abberline) and Pierre Gastou (Fiendish Fib). Together, they decided to turn this unlikely project into solid reality. In 1986 JOL went in the studio to record their first full-lenght for this label, an album that never saw the light of day, due to artistic divergences. The band broke up shortly after. POEME ELECTRONIQUE - THE ECHOES FADE
(Anna Logue Records # Anna 025, 180g 2xLP, black vinyl, disco inner sleeves + gatefold - hand-numbered potscard - 16 tracks - lim. ed. of 500 copies)

POEME ELECTRONIQUE formed in 1980 in South London. After the already enchanting 7" released on Anna Logue , they are back with this breathtaking retrospective, featuring a total of 16 tracks from 1981/82, 14 of which never published before. All tracks on this masterpiece are truly outstanding, from the super hits to the moodier pieces. The music is flawless, the voices of the two singers ever haunting and powerful, as they rarely are in this kind of music. Undoubtedly, POEME ELECTRONIQUE were destined to a much bigger career and we must agree with Anna Logue that this record is without a doubt the highlight of the label's discography so far. The artwork and presentation are equally somptuous... So, an eye and ear candy, through and through.

RED FETISH - THE FUTURE IS NOW IN YOUR HANDS
(Anna Logue Records # anna034, 7inch - solid red vinyl, in full-colour sleeve - 4 tracks - 1 insert - lim. ed. 200 copies, hand-numbered)

The RED FETISH was a minimal electronic pop outfit founded by ALL THE MADMEN members N. Potts and M. Richardson in Stoke-On-Trent, UK, presenting here four classic minimal electronic synth pop hits recorded back in 1982/1983 using a rather minimalistic set-up comprising a Korg KR-55, Korg 770, Korg SD-900 and Yamaha CS-10. This one little beauty is especially for those into a more raw and unpolished analogue synth sound in the vein of early Neon Judgement, Neural Circus, Spotch Forcey and Transparent Illusion. mp3 mp3

ROBERT X. PATRIOT / EZH - GOLD SILVER GREEN / SLUMBER
(Ironflame # IF//re002/s, 7" - in gold, silver or transparent green vinyl - in full-colour spined jacket + 1 poster, 2 postcards, 2 buttons, 3 stickers and 1 insert - 2 tracks - lim. to 333 handnumbered copies)

Ironflame goes electro with this second volume in their luxurious "re-document" series. Known for his collaborations with the likes of Boyd Rice and The Electric Hellfire Club, and participations to some of the cult industrial samplers of the 90s, ROBERT X. PATRIOT reveals here his well-hidden New Wave side and proves a natural with an absolute dance-floor killer that no minimal / wave / flexipop DJ will want to miss. If by some unfathomable reason this track doesn't make you move, then the other side of the coin surely will: the monstruous dark-techno anthem "Slumber" by Hamburg-born Berliner act EZH (resident DJ at both Patientenfront and Back To Basics), only available as a DJ-Promo at the time of its creation in 2000, appears here as a brand new, powerful single-edit, remixed by Italo-/Electro-/NewWave-eminence DJ Hanoben. The whole painstakingly put together and with loving attention to detail, a rare thing for songs so obviously destined to burn the dance-floor! mp3 mp3 more images

Finally a new release in the Krach series! The German band Schwellkörper actually specialized in Folk and Blues, but also recorded a couple of NDW/Wave pieces back in 1982, two of which appeared on the long out of print single : « Liebe, Triebe… ". We find them again on this 7-inch release, supplemented by two new songs in the same vein. One more jewel of NDW history and Kernkrach highlight!

SEPTIMO SELLO - VUELO 747
(Atemporal Records, # AT-001, LP, black vinyl - in printed innersleeve + jacket - 11 tracks - lim. to 320 copies)

The young Spanish label Atemporal Records present here their first record, a vinyl edition of hitherto unreleased material by Septimo Sello, one of the most provocative and seminal (though short-lived) bands of the Spanish 80s. Born in 1984, Septimo Sello released a couple of EPs and an album and are mostly remembered for the hit "Todos los paletos fuera de Madrid". But the early songs presented here, described by the band as "dreams which never saw the light of day", never appeared on any of their recordings, although they were the basis of 7Sello's live performances and thus play an emblematic role in the band's history. What you get here are punchy, playful, rhythm-box driven synth morale-boosters with an electro-punk flavour, not unlike Europa and Aviador Dro. Higly recommended! mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

SIC - THOUGHT NOISES
(Dark Entries / DE-023, LP - black vinyl - 1 insert - 12 tracks)

Dark Entries sheds some light on underground Belgian New Wave pioneers SIC, with this career-spanning release. SIC were formed in the industrial city of Charleroi, in the francophone part of Belgium, by Francis Pourcel, Alain Neffe (Bene Gesserit), Micheline Dufert, and Mario Berchicci, in 1977. Straying from more conventional post-punk, SiIC mixed the affordable Korg MS-20 and Roland RS-09 synthesizers with jazz and funk elements. The strong, watery Rickenbacker bass chords, a heavy reliance on rhythm and Micheline’s strong, insistent voice give SIC its own moody personality. SIC take cues from Magazine, “Live At The Witch Trials”- era The Fall, Delta 5, The Raincoats and Kleenex. Their lyrics document commercialism, technology and communication in the early 1980s. “Thought Noises” compiles all three SIC 7" singles released from 1979-1981 plus 6 unreleased demos from 1981. More than 30 years later, SIC are a document of a mutant strain of new wave ripe for discovery. mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

STRAHLENZENTRUM – ZENTRALAUTOMANTIK
(Treue um Treue, TuT020, 10" - white vinyl - 6 tracks, ltd ed. of 200 hand-numbered copies)

STRAHLENZENTRUM was started in 2007 as a minimal electro side-project of N.STRAHL.N, the post-industrial outfit by prolific German sound-artist M. W. Löhr. After a self-titled debut on Tosom and a second album on Licht und Stahl, both in very limited CDR/tape editions, “Zentralautomantik” is the project’s third opus and very first appearance on vinyl. Featuring four brand new pieces and two tracks from the former album “Zentralebene” remixed by WERMUT, this mini-LP is inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s dark romantic tale “The Sandman”, whose man-machine motif finds a new sonic expression in STRAHLENZENTRUM’s very own brand of cold, sparse and hypnotic electronics. Rhythmic analogue patterns between early industrial and late Third Wave slowly build up into repetitive, trance-inducing instrumental compositions, somehow calling to mind Indian ragas, like the reflection of divine and human wisdom in a machine’s mind. mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

SYSTEM LILIPUTT - HARPA
(Dark Entries / DE-019, LP - black vinyl - 1 insert - 11 tracks)

System Liliputt was the solo project of Geir Vasseng from the Stavanger area of Norway in the early 1980s. He released one cassette, Harpa, a mini-album of 6 songs in Feburary 1984 on his own label Geva Tapes & Studio that was limited to 150 copies. 27 years later Dark Entries has baked and transferred the original master tapes, adding 5 bonus tracks, restoring this lost piece of Norsk D.I.Y. dark post-punk. Influenced by the darker/melodic post-punk bands Young Marble Giants, Fra Lippo Lippi and Seventeen Seconds/Faith era Cure, System Liliputt created rich atmospheres with intricate guitar work, ethereal synths and sombre vocals. Whereas the original six Hapra songs capture a brooding and downbeat feel, the demos showcase Vasseng’s ability to write a catchy, wistful pop song with minimally treated instruments. Another piece of Norway’s rich post-punk past is ready for your ears. mp3 mp3 mp3

TEATRO SATANICO – GOLD IN BLEI
(Treue um Treue, TuT018, 7", 157 copies on gold vinyl, 157 copies on lead vinyl, in printed jacket, 2 tracks, hand-numbered)

Treue um Treue is very proud indeed to present the latest alchemical endeavour of Teatro Satanico, the cult Italian project whose devilish wit and magick electronics have been the talk of the post-industrial scene for the last 20 years. On “Gold in Blei”, they chose to invoke two of the most infamous female figures of Germany’s recent past, two parallel destinies, two deep wounds of the German psyche: Ulrike Meinhof the fallen angel and Ilse Koch the uprising demon. Staged with all the flavour and cruel humour of a morbid nursery rhyme, this unseemly yin yang put to a post-revivalist technoid beat shows TS as unpredictable and irreverent as ever. So, who is Kasper and who the Devil? Don’t expect them to tell you. The choice is yours between an EBM party at the Stammhein prison and a 6 AM ecstasy overdose at the Lagerkommandantur! Deutsch-Italienische Freundschaft or hermetic Electro Bunker Musick at its best.

//TENSE// - ESCAPE
(Mannequin, # mnq 014, 12" EP, black vinyl - 2 inserts - 5 tracks - lim. to 500 copies, hand-numbered)

After an acclaimed tour opening for Nitzer Ebb in North America and a prolific production for Desire Records, the Houston duo is back in the studio and the result is a constellation of brooding bass lines, pounding electronic drums pad sounds, movie samples and distorted vocals, definitely bringing back to life the earlier days of EBM. Imagine that Snake Plissken never escaped New York and he started an electro body music band with The Duke and you're almost there! mp3 mp3 mp3

(Reue um Reue # R.U.R. 004, 12" LP - 12 tracks - lim. ed. of 303 (153 on clear green and 150 on clear yellow vinyl)

Three years after his acclaimed solo debut on Nekofutschata, Novy Svet’s long-time collaborator Tristan Sasao finally returns to show us a definitely more electronic facet of his unpredictable talent. A crystalline séance in prog-elektro disguise, “The Skin I’m in” is a truly unclassifiable album which addresses both the body and the mind, playfully swaying between post-cabaret electronica, freaked-out analogue breaks and acid chill-out ditties. A masterpiece of modern experimental electronics, expect nothing but genius! mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3 mp3

ZWISCHENFALL - HEUTE
(Dark Entries #DE-004, 12" EP - black vinyl - 8-page booklet - 6 tracks - lim. hand-numbered edition of 500 copies)

Zwischenfall's "Heute" EP, originally released 1983 on Front 242's label Mask combines electronic and traditional instruments to create a distinct sound with hard rhythms, minimal yet catchy electronics, melancholic melodies and very impressive lyrics that blend into a very danceable cocktail, somewhere between Opera Multi Steel and Vono. Remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios, the EP features the whole "Heute" EP, including the unforgettable and indispensable minimal dancefloor highlight "Flucht", as well as two bonus tracks from the Heute sessions never before released on vinyl: the uptempo “Tausend Jahre” and “Katastrophe” (an alternative version of "Flucht", but somehow completely different). Zwischenfall does great honour to their name, since their music really is an "unforeseen occurence", a blow of fresh air in the minimal electro world.
